The sun sinks low over White Sands National Park, casting its final golden glow across the rippling gypsum dunes. As the last light of day kisses the horizon, the sky transforms into a warm gradient of amber and deepening blue. The contrast of the sun’s brilliance against the darkening mountains creates an ethereal moment—one that lingers in the mind long after the last rays fade.
This particular composition breaks the traditional rule of thirds. Instead of offsetting the sun to one side, I chose a symmetrical approach, placing it directly in the saddle of the distant mountain range. The balance of the scene felt natural, as though the landscape itself demanded this moment of equilibrium. The symmetry enhances the serenity of the scene, drawing the eye toward the center, where light and land converge in perfect harmony.
